Center for CADRe

In 2006 a work group of the Subcommittee on Water Availability called for a Federal focal point for information on the integration of computer tools in multi-stakeholder public decision process for U.S. Water Solutions.  In 2007, an amendment This link leaves this site for another Government web site. to create such a center was proposed to the 2007 Water Resources Development Act.

The mission of the Center for Computer Aided Dispute Resolution (CADRE) program is to avoid or manage water resource conflicts through the application of transparent, technically informed decision-support computer models within open, structured public involvement processes to facilitate the negotiation of constructive agreements and win-win outcomes. Development of the methods will involve collaboration between the Center, relevant local, state, tribal and federal agencies, technical experts, stakeholders and the public.  Activities of the Center include R&D, education, capacity-building, and direct technical assistance.  The Center is envisioned as a physical and virtual Center, designed to provide a synergistic environment in which staff from multiple participating agencies work cooperatively to service the broad needs of the environmental and resource management community.

Federal CADRE partners are now developing an interagency memorandum of agreement to form the center.
